Violence Prevention & Community Safety

Addressing violence in our community and creating a safer Kansas City for everyone requires a holistic, collaborative, and evidence-based approach. Each of KC Common Good’s initiatives draw on proven models, local data, and resident input to create a comprehensive solution to reduce rates of violence in our region.

KC 360

Our initiative to unite Kansas City’s non-profit organizations, public agencies, civic leaders, and residents around a shared goal: reducing violence in the areas most impacted by it. Led by KC Common Good and inspired by a proven model, KC 360 creates space for community collaboration to align efforts and maximize impact. At weekly meetings and through focused subcommittees, community partners translate strategy for prevention and intervention into action.

Community Events

When you attend an event hosted by KC Common Good or one of our partner organizations, you are helping create a safer city for everyone—becoming part of the solution is that simple.

Comprehensive Public Safety

Grounded in the belief that violence is preventable, our framework for improving public safety aligns residents and community partners from public health, non-profits, government, law enforcement, and local businesses to address the immediate risks and root causes of violence and improve our city’s long-term safety.

Village Initiative

This place-based strategy unites neighbors, local organizations, and public partners in coordinated efforts to reduce violence in their communities. Since its launch in our pilot neighborhood, the initiative has contributed to a significant decrease in shootings and theft—and that impact continues to grow as more neighborhoods join the village model.
