KC 360
KC 360 is a comprehensive, community-based violence reduction initiative that convenes organizations, government agencies, faith leaders, law enforcement, individuals and the business community around a shared goal: reducing violence and creating safer neighborhoods across Kansas City.
A Regional Effort to Reduce Violence
Led by KC Common Good, KC 360 adapts Omaha 360, a proven collaborative model developed by The Empowerment Network. Rather than organizations working independently, KC 360 provides a platform for coordination, shared learning, real-time problem solving, and collective action in the neighborhoods most impacted by violence.
Weekly KC 360 meetings bring partners together to share information, identify emerging challenges, coordinate resources, strengthen community-police relationships, and develop real-time solutions to violence. This consistent collaboration has created stronger relationships and a shared understanding of what communities need to prevent violence and support residents.

A Growing Network for Community
Since launching in 2022, KC 360 has experienced a 24-fold increase in participation, connecting more than 600 individuals through weekly meetings, engaging more than 500 participants in workshops and trainings, and building a network of 300+ partner organizations committed to safer communities.
Together, KC 360 partners and residents have completed more than 10,000 community-based actions in neighborhoods most impacted by violence. These efforts include outreach and mentoring, youth engagement, neighborhood cleanups, conflict mediation, canvassing, resource connections, community events, and support for individuals and families impacted by violence.
At the same time, investment in community-led public safety solutions has grown significantly. Grants supporting community-driven violence prevention and public safety initiatives have increased 20-fold, helping ensure that organizations closest to the challenges have the resources and capacity to address them.
The KC 360 meetings are where diverse viewpoints, experiences, and expertise come together in one place. It’s like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. Everyone brings a piece, and no one piece is more important than another. When we put those pieces on the table and work together, we begin to build the picture. For us, that picture is courses of action, where we want to go, and where we need to go as a community.

Turning Collaboration Into Action
KC 360’s issue-specific subcommittees allow residents, organizations, and community leaders to move from conversation to coordinated action in key areas:
- Community-Police Relations
- Business Engagement
- Youth Empowerment
- Community Care
Each subcommittee strengthens relationships, identifies opportunities for collaboration, and develops strategies that respond directly to community needs. KC 360 demonstrates that community safety is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement, government, or any single organization. It is a shared responsibility that requires trust, investment, coordination, and sustained commitment.
Kansas City still has work to do, but the progress demonstrates what is possible when community leadership, public investment, law enforcement, businesses, nonprofits, and residents align around a common vision. Safer neighborhoods are built through relationships, opportunity, prevention, and partnership.
