August 19 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT

The nation’s official health protection agency, the Center for Disease Control, considers intimate partner violence to be a serious, preventable public health problem that affects millions of Americans. There are many studies demonstrating the physiological and psychological impact domestic violence has on individuals. This training will:
- examine the impact of domestic violence trauma on immediate and long-term health outcomes for adults and children
- discuss how trauma may influence a survivor’s ability to access healthcare services or to obtain and understand health information
- provide resources and supports that providers working with trauma survivors can use to help them proactively access appropriate healthcare services
