KC Non-Profit to Host Job Skills Workshops for High School Students

Scholar Smarts’ Workshops Will Focus on ‘Soft Skills’ for Students Entering Trades

 

 

Kansas City, MO – June 18, 2025 – Scholar Smarts, a Kansas City-based nonprofit that helps marginalized students prepare for college and the workforce, is hosting free classes aimed at teaching soft skills to high school students interested in trade careers. The Employment Smarts Youth Workforce Academy offers industry-led sessions designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for long-term success as employees or apprentices. Students will learn about a range of real-world work situations, from visiting work sites, to navigating conflict, to understanding employee how they can positively impact their communities.

 

“At Scholar Smarts, we work with students who face systemic barriers by empowering them to develop critical workforce skills,” said Pauline Eatmon-Johnson, Executive Director and Founder of Scholar Smarts.

 

Registration is limited. Students can register online scholarsmarts.com  (Photo ID, short Essay, and copy of unofficial transcript required.) Participating students will receive incentives to win free HP computers.  Deadline 7/8

 

Dates: Saturdays – July 12th, 19th, and 26th
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Hybrid format), travel to work sites
Location: Builders Trade Assn. 105 N. 12th AVE., N KC, MO and Mark One Electric 1414 Genesee KC, MO.

Cost: FREE
All sessions are required.
