PROGRAMS

At KC Common Good, we’re addressing the root causes of violence in our region. We’re convening the doers, the changemakers and the leaders to reduce violence, instill hope and ensure a successful future for every individual in our city.

We partner with businesses and community-based organizations to work toward the common good. Through our pilot programs, we’re able to leverage these partnerships to help address the root causes of violence and create a safer, more prosperous Kansas City for everyone.

KC 360

KC 360 is a comprehensive, community-based approach to reduce violent crime, build stronger community relations, increase access to education and jobs and implement responsible justice reforms.

Modeled after the Empowerment Network’s successful Omaha 360 program, KC 360 convenes leaders and stakeholders in the Kansas City community to facilitate and maintain long-term reductions in violent crime and community and institutional change.

Lansing Career Campus

Aimed at promoting successful reentry for more than 300 formerly incarcerated individuals with the Kansas Department of Corrections and Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

This training equips these future members of the workforce with credentials in high-demand industries to successfully transition to life after incarceration, overall reducing recidivism and addressing the state’s workforce shortage.

Working For Youth

In partnership with the Kauffman Foundation’s Real World Learning Program, Working for Youth / ProX pairs Kansas City youth with local employers for paid summer internships. KC Common Good uniquely focuses on a subset of youth within the regional program who are disconnected from school.

These students receive professional development, career coaching and, through a partnership with Community America Credit Union, a banking relationship and financial education.

Good Samaritan Home Equity

Building new homes in the urban core to increase generational wealth through home ownership and thriving neighborhoods.

KC Common Good Fund

The KC Common Good Fund provides financial aid up to $5,000 for families struggling with funeral expenses for a loved one who was killed by violence in our community. In its first year, the fund provided support to more than 50 families in the Kansas City area.

It is led by KC Common Good and includes community residents, clergy members, local non-violence organizations, Kansas City Police Department, and city government officials.
